Las fuerzas militares de Venezuela lograron controlar este lunes un grupo de elementos de la Guardia Nacional que se sublevaron y tomaron un destacamento militar al norte de Caracas.

El Ministerio de la Defensa anunció en un comunicado que fueron “rendidos y capturados” un grupo de militares rebeldes, a los que llamó “asaltantes”, en una unidad especial de seguridad del barrio de Cotiza, al norte de Caracas.

El anuncio se realizó luego de la difusión de videos en los que un hombre, que se identifica como el sargento Figueroa se dirige al “pueblo de Venezuela” e insta a sus compatriotas a que salgan a las calles para mostrar apoyo a su rebelión.

En Cotiza se podía ver a un pequeño grupo de residentes golpeando ollas y sartenes, quemando basura y arrojando piedras a los oficiales de policía estacionados frente al puesto de la Guardia Nacional.
